YouTuber Metaphor Shows How to Make the MP40 Into One of the Best SMGs

Easily one of the most iconic World War II firearms in the history of gaming, the MP40 is an obvious standout choice for both veterans and newcomers alike. However, due to its original, overpowered damage set, Raven swatted the gun with the nerf hammer more than a few times.

Fortunately, there are still ways to make the gun viable, as long as you have the proper build for it.

Warzone YouTuber Metaphor, shows his tactics on how to make the MP40 one of the best SMGs in game

YouTuber Metaphor, a well-respected Warzone streamer, recently revealed his personal tactics for running an MP40 build in Warzone. In a video titled, "You need to change your MP40 class setup, NOW..." Metaphor explained his personal tactics for revamping the MP40 to make the popular gun even deadlier.

  • Muzzle: Recoil Booster
  • Barrel: VDD 189mm Short
  • Optic: Krausnick ISO2M
  • Stock: Krausnick 33M Folding
  • Underbarrel: Mark VI Skeletal
  • Magazine: 7.62 Gorenko 45 Round Mags
  • Ammunition: Lengthened
  • Rear Grip: Stippled Grip
  • Perk: Steady
  • Perk 2: Quick

His strategy, he explained, was to play to the MP40's strengths, that being rapid, close quarters stopping power, with good accuracy at short range. Utilizing attachments that boost ADS speed such as the Krausnick ISO2M, his main goal centers around being able to pull up his gun sight as fast as possible. Once locked on, he aims for the center mass, not the head, and unloads as fast as possible. This strategy requires good accuracy as well, especially with the faster fire rate, so the next attachments need to go to recoil dampening attachments such as the Stippled Grip. Finally, to boost the damage done to the torso, there needs to be an attachment that can deal as much damage as possible to the intended target. Metaphor personally recommends the VDD 189mm Short attachment. Despite lowering headshot damage, it gives a decent buff to torso damage, as well as extending the damage range a bit farther.

Overall, Metaphor has proven how vital attachments are to make or break a match, in addition to how useful and versatile an SMG is. While it's not as broken as it used to be, it's still a viable weapon for any match, especially close quarters ones.
